About TopCasinoList

A New Zealand casino comparison site built on a simple premise: the published terms of the casinos are the product, so those terms are what we review.

Last updated 7 July 2026

The short version: we review online casinos that accept New Zealand players by reading their published terms, tracing their licences, and checking access from a New Zealand connection. We earn through affiliate links, we never take payment for rankings, and every casino we list carries at least one honest weakness.

What this site is

TopCasinoList is a comparison and review website for online casinos that serve New Zealand. Since no locally licensed online casino has ever existed, international operators are currently the only option for players in the country - and not all of them are created equal, so our job is separating the accountable operators from the disposable ones. We have reviewed 13 online casinos in full, and every comparison page on this site draws on those same 13 workups - from the master top online casinos ranking to the safest casinos and casino bonus lists.

This website is written and researched by Kai Halvorsen, a Wellington-based analyst who reads the terms and conditions of online casinos the way most people read the sports pages. His method and his verdicts are documented on every page he touches.

How we work

Three rules run through all content that is published on this site. Firstly, claims come from documents: the bonus figures, wagering multipliers, win caps and withdrawal limits are taken from each casino's own published terms, never from promotional banners. Secondly, operators get traced: each casino is followed back to the company that operates it and the licence number for that company, cross-checked against the regulator's records. Finally, access gets verified: each casino that is listed was opened from a New Zealand connection before it earned a place on this site.

There are also some things that we do not do, and they matter just as much. We do not open accounts at these online casinos, deposit money, or place bets on the games - our reviews are built on published terms and publicly available information, and they say so. We never invent testing stories, player counts or "win rates". The full scoring system is published on our how we review page.

How the site earns

Some of the links on this website are affiliate links. This means that if you visit a casino through one of them and sign up or deposit, the casino may pay us a commission from its marketing budget. This costs you nothing and changes nothing that you receive. Commissions never influence scores or rankings, and casinos cannot pay for a place on this website or to move up. More information is available on our affiliate disclosure page.

Where we stand on the law

Playing at overseas online casinos is legal for New Zealand players today, and the market is about to change completely: from 1 December 2026, only operators holding one of up to 15 new NZ licences will be able to serve players here. We track the transition closely on our NZ online casino law guide, and we will re-rank the site once the licensed market opens.

Responsible gambling

Gambling is a form of entertainment that comes with a price attached, and part of our job is saying so on every page. Each page carries the Gambling Helpline number (0800 654 655, or text 8006), each listing states its real weaknesses, and our responsible gambling page features the tools and organisations that can be of assistance when play stops being fun. Everything on this website is for readers aged 18 and over.
